WHEN YOUR BUSINESS STOPS BEING ONLY ABOUT YOU
THIS EVENT IS NOW FULL.
The business concept has proven itself. This is now an established commercial entity that has left behind its roots as a personal passion project. It is time for the next stage of growth. What needs to change? What should an entrepreneur be thinking about to take their business forward; to secure further investment; or perhaps even to facilitate an eventual exit?
Sharon Fryer, a Partner at hosts Collyer Bristow, advises on all matters of company law, including acquisitions and disposals of businesses, and business succession planning. She’ll be speaking to our growing boardroom of business owners and their advisors about how important it is to set up a business correctly from the start to mitigate risk; the reasons for keeping personal and business assets separate; the use of different share classes to reflect what different participants want from their involvement in the business; and how to develop a strong management team to support (and maybe one day take over) the running of the business.
James Cook, also a Partner at Collyer Bristow, advises in the preparation of wills, estate and tax planning including business succession and wealth protection for future generations. With Sharon he will be discussing the best ways for entrepreneurs to structure their personal affairs; outlining what happens to a business in the event of incapacity; and considering what entrepreneurs exiting a business should be doing to protect the proceeds of that sale.
Matt Katz, Head of Corporate Finance at accountancy firm, Buzzacott, supports businesses to prepare for fundraisings, disposals, acquisitions, and management buy outs. Matt will be discussing the challenges a business may face in going to market; outlining some of the key areas to concentrate upon as entrepreneurs prepare for investment or exit; and advising on what they should do (and when) to make the business as attractive as possible for potential investors and buyers.
